Qobuz pluses: larger artist payout (at least a few years ago, not sure now), no MQA, sonically at least as good as Tidal, duo subscription 30% cheaper than Tidal family, not owned by a. Both work with roon, but tidal seems to work better, especially for 'radio. Setting hifi quality filters out a lot (but not all) of mqa giving proper cd quality flac in a lot of cases. Tidal is infected with MQA, which is evil, but sounds ok. Will make my long term choice on music availability and interface. Tidal mobile/desktop app 10x better than Qobuz. Using both now with new home theater room. The few variances aren't detectable to the human ear. YouTube Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Primephonic, Amazon Music, Apple Music, SoundCloud. ![]() Sonically speaking, and subjectively speaking, Qobuz seems more agreeable to my ears (less harshness/highs?), but I’ve not ABX‘ed them - I’m not even sure if this is easily doable in a controlled way (given the volume normalisation that’s applied in Tidal - I didn’t found whether Qobuz apply volume normalisation). Apparently any sound difference between the two is indistinguishable with analyzers. Reference list Example Girl in Red (2021) 'Apartment 402'. I would need to rely solely on the Bluesound App, which is not the best around. Qobuz is unique in showing you the exact quality specs for the currently playing track, along with the Hi-Res Audio logo if the content meets that level. The only downside I would see at the moment is that I cannot control my Bluesound Node via the Qobuz App whereas it is possible to do so via the Tidal App (via “Tidal Connect”). Tidal has 4 streaming quality levels available depending on your payment plan. I am currently evaluating Qobuz (to replace my present Tidal family subscription). ![]() Does anybody know if that was confirmed somewhere else as well?
